The National Association of Opel Dealerships (Asociación Nacional de Concesionarios Opel), usually known as ANCOPEL, was the Opel network's own organisation, but in 2026 it was integrated into AECS, the new Spanish Association of Stellantis Dealerships.

Current situation

In February 2026 Faconauto announced that AECS was being set up through the absorption of the Opel, Peugeot and Leapmotor associations.

So if you are looking today for the business representation of Opel dealerships, the current reference is AECS.

What an association absorption implies

It does not mean that Opel loses its commercial identity or that all its problems are identical to those of other Stellantis brands. It means that legal and organisational representation is concentrated in a common structure.

The new association aims to have a single board, a single set of operations and greater capacity for dialogue with Stellantis.

Why it can be positive for dealerships

A unified structure can avoid duplication and make work on cross-cutting issues more efficient:

  • contracts and standards;

  • investments;

  • costs;

  • electrification;

  • digitalisation;

  • profitability;

  • employment and legal framework.

The key will be maintaining internal mechanisms that capture Opel's particularities within a larger organisation.

How to find up-to-date information

If a search returns old ANCOPEL pages, check the date. For the current structure, use information from AECS and Faconauto.

You can read the full explanation in AECS: what it is and why it was created.

The relationship with AECOVI

AECOVI does not represent dealerships before a brand and therefore does not replace this association. Its role lies in another part of the business: used vehicles, digitalisation and learning between professionals. For a dealership with used car activity, it can be useful to compare practices with operators from other networks and with independent used car dealers, while keeping the brand association as the specific channel for representation.
