Sell your car fast and at the best price with offers from over 1,000 dealerships

If you are looking for the best site to sell your car, you have probably already seen that there is no shortage of options. The problem is not finding where to publish, but understanding what you can expect from each site: how long it will take, what price you can get and how much effort it will cost you.

Not all sites work the same. Some put you in front of thousands of private buyers, but require you to manage the entire process. Others resolve the sale for you in days, but in exchange for a lower price. And a few try to give you the best of both worlds.

In this article we analyse the main sites to sell a car in Spain, with their real advantages and limitations, so you can choose the one that best suits your situation.

What options exist for selling your car in Spain

The Spanish market is divided into three main categories of sites to sell a car.

Classified ads portals. You publish the ad and manage the calls, visits and negotiation. This includes Wallapop, Coches.net, Milanuncios and AutoScout24. It is the most traditional model of the online market.

Direct purchase companies. You fill out a form, they give you a valuation and offer you a fixed price. This includes Compramostucoche, Flexicar compra, Clicars and OcasionPlus. The process is quick but the offer is set by the company.

Platforms with dealer bidding. You upload your car once and multiple professional dealerships compete for it by sending you offers. You choose the one that suits you best. This is the model that Dealcar uses.

Each category has an ideal seller profile. Let's look at them one by one.

Wallapop: the generalist with the most traffic

Wallapop is the most widely used marketplace between private individuals in Spain. Its motor section has a huge volume of traffic, which means your ad is going to get visibility.

Advantages. Publishing a basic ad is free. The volume of users is very high, so if your car is one of those that many people are looking for, you can receive contacts quickly. The app is easy to use and allows you to upload photos and descriptions in minutes.

Limitations. The buyer profile on Wallapop tends to look for bargains below price. Aggressive offers and haggling are the norm, not the exception. Many contacts turn out to be curious people who never follow through. Furthermore, being a generalist platform, there is no type of buyer verification: the risk of non-payment, bounced cheques or scams exists and it is your responsibility to manage it.

Featured ads and premium options have a cost, and without them, visibility drops quickly as new ads are published.

Average selling time. Variable. It can range from one week (highly demanded cars at a good price) to several months. The average is around 30-60 days for a mid-range car.

Ideal profile. Sellers with time and patience who want to control the negotiation and are willing to manage calls and visits.

Cochesnet: the specialised automotive portal

Coches.net is the leading portal in Spain for vehicle buying and selling. Unlike Wallapop, it is 100% focused on automotive, attracting buyers with clearer intentions.

Advantages. The audience searching on Coches.net is specifically looking for a car, not just browsing. The platform offers useful tools like price estimates and advanced filters that help the right buyers find your ad. The ads have more technical detail than on generalist sites.

Limitations. The model for private individuals is paid. Publishing an ad has a cost that varies depending on the plan (from about 20-30 euros for basic packages). Without paying for highlights, your ad can get buried among those of professional dealerships that dominate the platform. The negotiation and management of contacts remains your responsibility.

Average selling time. Slightly faster than Wallapop for mid-to-high-range cars, thanks to the more qualified audience. Even so, the process can drag on for several weeks.

Ideal profile. Sellers with a mid-to-high-range car who want to reach more serious buyers and are willing to invest some money in visibility.

Milanuncios: high volume, a lot of noise

Milanuncios is another of Spain's big classifieds. Its motor section receives millions of monthly visits, making it a site with wide reach but also with a lot of competition and noise.

Advantages. Large volume of traffic. Publishing basic ads is free. Wide geographical coverage across Spain.

Limitations. The user experience is similar to Wallapop: many unserious contacts, constant haggling and the risk of dealing with strangers. Free ads have limited visibility, and paid ones compete directly with professional listings. The management of the process is entirely yours.

Average selling time. Similar to Wallapop. High competition between ads can lengthen the process if you do not invest in visibility.

Ideal profile. Sellers who want to maximize exposure at no initial cost and do not mind filtering out many contacts before finding the right buyer.

AutoScout24: the European benchmark

AutoScout24 is the largest car trading portal in Europe. In Spain it has less penetration than Coches.net or Wallapop, but it attracts an interesting buyer profile, especially for imported or premium-range cars.

Advantages. International audience, which can be an advantage if your car is a model highly valued outside of Spain. Specialised automotive platform with integrated valuation tools. Good reputation among buyers looking for premium cars or specific models.

Limitations. Traffic in Spain is lower than on Coches.net or Wallapop, which translates into fewer contacts. The model for private sellers is also paid for its most visible options. For low-range cars or common utility vehicles, it does not offer much advantage over generalist portals.

Average selling time. Variable. It can work very well for models with specific demand (premium cars, sports cars, import models) and worse for generic utility vehicles.

Ideal profile. Sellers with mid-to-high-range cars or models with specific demand who want to expand their reach beyond the local market.

Compramostucoche and similar: direct purchase

Direct purchase companies represent the opposite option to portals. Instead of publishing and waiting, you enter your car's details and the company makes you an offer.

The best known in Spain are Compramostucoche, Flexicar (with its buying service), Clicars and OcasionPlus. They all operate on a similar model: initial online valuation, in-person inspection and final offer.

Advantages. Speed (the transaction can be closed in 24-72 hours). Convenience (you do not have to manage ads, calls or visits). The company handles most of the paperwork. No risk of non-payment.

Limitations. You receive only one offer. There is no competition, no bidding, no possibility to compare. Offers are usually 10% to 20% below market value. The initial online valuation is indicative: the real offer after the in-person inspection can be significantly lower, which causes frustration for many sellers.

Average selling time. 2-5 days. It is the fastest option.

Ideal profile. Sellers who prioritize speed and convenience over price. People who need immediate liquidity and prefer to close quickly even if it is at a lower price.

Dealcar: dealership bidding for your car

Dealcar operates on a different model to all of the above. Instead of publishing an ad and waiting, or receiving a single offer from one company, your car is presented to a network of more than 1,000 professional dealerships who compete against each other to buy it.

The process is direct: you upload your vehicle's information (make, model, year, mileage, condition, photos) and interested dealerships send you real offers. You compare, choose the best one and close the deal. If no offer convinces you, you are under no obligation.

Advantages. Because there is real competition among multiple professional buyers, offers tend to align with or exceed market value. You do not publish ads, you do not receive calls from curious buyers, and you do not negotiate with strangers. The buying dealership manages the paperwork. The service is free for the seller.

Limitations. The result depends on the demand for your type of car at that moment. Very popular models generate more bids and better offers than cars with harder-to-sell features.

Average selling time. The first offers usually arrive within 24-48 hours. The complete transaction can be closed in less than a week.

Ideal profile. Sellers who want the best possible price without wasting time. People who do not want to manage ads or negotiate, but also do not want to blindly accept a single offer.

There is no single site that is objectively the best for every case. But there is a principle that always applies: the more buyers compete for your car, the better price you will get. Options that generate real competition among professional buyers are the ones that yield the best results in terms of the price-time-effort ratio.

Dealcar: sell your car quickly and at the best price

More than 1,000 professional dealerships compete for cars from private individuals through Dealcar. You upload your car, receive real offers and decide without obligation. No ads, no calls, no haggling.

Frequently asked questions

Can I publish my car on several sites at the same time?

Yes. There is no exclusivity on any of the classifieds portals. You can publish on Wallapop, Cochesnet and Milanuncios simultaneously, and at the same time request offers on platforms like Dealcar. The only thing you should avoid is accepting two offers at the same time.

What is the fastest site to sell a car?

Direct purchase companies (Compramostucoche, Clicars) are the fastest: they can close within 24-72 hours. Platforms with dealership bidding like Dealcar are also fast (2-7 days) but with the advantage of receiving several competitive offers. Classifieds portals are the slowest (weeks or months).

Is there any site that is completely free?

Wallapop and Milanuncios allow you to publish basic ads for free, though premium visibility options are paid. Direct purchase companies and Dealcar do not charge the seller. Cochesnet and AutoScout24 are paid for private individuals in their higher-reach options.

Is it safe to sell my car online?

Safety depends more on the channel than the medium. Selling to an unknown private individual through a portal involves more risk (non-payment, scams) than selling to a professional dealership. Platforms that work with verified buyers offer greater protection.

Which site pays best for cars?

There is no single answer, because it depends on the car. But the mechanism that yields the best result in terms of price is competition among buyers. A dealership that knows others are bidding for the same car will pay more than one that knows it is your only option.
