What ANCOVE is and who it represents
ANCOVE (Asociación Nacional de Comerciantes de Vehículos, the national association of vehicle traders) describes itself as an organisation focused on defending vehicle traders' interests before consumers, suppliers and public bodies. Its history began in 1989, and its evolution from cooperative to national association reflects the growth of a sector that needed specific representation alongside the large cross-sector trade bodies.
Unlike Faconauto, which brings together the franchised brand dealership networks, ANCOVE doesn't depend on any manufacturer. Its base includes traders of cars, motorcycles, quads, microcars, lorries and tractors, both new and used, of all brands. That brand independence is particularly relevant for a multi-brand used car dealer: the association represents their interests without conflicting with those of any franchised network.

repair workshops;
ANCOVE's offering has a more developed operational component than most trade bodies in the sector. Its services include several distinct blocks.
Paperwork and contracts. ANCOVE provides its members with standardised sales contracts and paperwork related to the sales process. For a dealer handling dozens of deals a month, having contracts reviewed by legal advisers reduces the risk of documentation errors.
Market statistics. It publishes new and used vehicle statistics that let you put your business's performance in the context of the wider market. Knowing whether a drop in sales reflects a sector trend or a problem specific to your business is valuable for decision-making.
Tools for the sales process. The offering includes listing multi-posting, financing-related simulators, tools for official values and taxes, and valuation services. These tools can reduce reliance on scattered solutions contracted separately.
Floating policies and insurance. ANCOVE has agreements for sector-specific policies that cover the dealership's stock.
Legal and regulatory advice. Regulatory changes affecting vehicle trading are frequent: statutory warranties, VeriFactu, consumer regulations, environmental labels, REBU. Advice is one of the most distinctive services for members who don't have an external adviser specialising in the sector.
How much it costs to join ANCOVE
The fee published on ANCOVE's website is 34.86 euros a month. It's worth checking the current rate directly on ancove.es before formalising membership, as terms may change.
To assess the return on that fee, the right question is how many of the included services you'll use regularly. A dealer who regularly uses the contracts, statistics and legal advice is more likely to get a return than one who only wants institutional representation without using the operational tools.
Who ANCOVE makes most sense for
ANCOVE is a particularly good fit for used car dealers and vehicle traders looking for an association focused on their specific profile, with everyday operational services. It isn't a cross-sector trade body that brings together the entire distribution chain: its focus on vehicle traders makes it more directly applicable to that profile.
It's particularly relevant for those who need reviewed, standardised contracts without having an external adviser, those who want regular used vehicle market data to put their business in context, those looking for multi-posting tools and stock insurance included in the fee, and those who value representation before public bodies and consumers from an organisation with more than 35 years in the sector.
For a dealer who already has external advisers, access to market data through other channels and their own management tools, the return analysis needs to be more specific about which particular ANCOVE service isn't covered in some other way.

ANCOVE and other associations: what each one covers
ANCOVE, GANVAM, AEVO and AECOVI coexist in the automotive association landscape because each one covers a different space.
GANVAM has broader representation that includes the entire distribution and repair chain, with more historical institutional weight but less specific focus on the independent used car dealer.
Read also used car dealership software.
AEVO focuses on the used vehicle ecosystem with a professionalisation and digitalisation approach, with a broader scope than the individual dealer.

ANCOVE has the focus closest to vehicle traders' day-to-day operations: its services are designed for professionals who need contracts, statistics and everyday tools.
AECOVI covers the professional community: the free exchange of experiences, questions and opportunities between independent used car dealers.
A dealer can be in ANCOVE for its services and representation and in AECOVI for the community without any conflict. They're complementary offerings, not alternatives.
How to assess whether ANCOVE fits your business
Before signing up, there are four questions worth answering. First, which specific ANCOVE tools you will use on a regular basis, not which ones might be useful in theory. Second, whether you already have those tools covered in another way (external adviser, management software, portal data). Third, how much institutional representation before public bodies and consumer associations is worth to you. Fourth, whether the monthly cost is justified by the real expected use of the services.

What to check before joining
Before deciding, review the membership category that applies to you, which services are included, which resources are restricted to members, and what actual use you will make of them. In an association, the value lies not just in "belonging", but in using the information, advice, and network.
AECOVI is the free community that Dealcar promotes for professionals in the sector. A space where more than 350 used car dealers share real experiences, solve day-to-day questions and discover business opportunities among professionals. ANCOVE and AECOVI are complementary: one provides operational services and representation; the other provides a professional community and peer-to-peer knowledge.

Frequently asked questions
Does ANCOVE only represent used car dealers? No. ANCOVE brings together dealers of cars, motorbikes, lorries, tractors and other vehicles, both new and used. It is not limited to used cars, but its typical member is the independent vehicle dealer, not the official brand dealership.
Can I be in ANCOVE and also in AECOVI? Yes. They are complementary and cover different needs. ANCOVE provides operational services and institutional representation; AECOVI provides community and knowledge among used car dealers. Belonging to one does not exclude the other.
Does ANCOVE have regional branches? ANCOVE operates at national level. For dealings with regional or local administrations, regional associations such as AMDA, FECAVEM, AVADA or ASOCASIÓN may be more directly relevant.
